Elationships – A Strange new Way of Dating

Computer love is what many people call it, but to some computer love takes on a whole new meaning, as it has evolved into a new kind of relationship. Believe it or not, there are some people who have no desire for a real live, hand-holding, go out to dinner, lip-kissing date. Although these individuals have an earnest desire for companionship, their perspective of companionship is quite different from that of the majority. Did you ever think such a thing would become a reality for millions of people?

This new kind of love is called the "elationship". Exactly what is an elationship? An elationship is a virtual relationship that involves people who, for whatever reason, are no longer interested in a real life affair, just a virtual one.

Online dating has become more popular, and for those who struggle with finding a date, online dating has made finding a date easier; but can you really be sure of what kind of person you are dating? You would think that people who resort to online dating would expect a great deal of deception, but somehow many people don't consider deception as an element when they bond with someone through an online experience. Think about it, people aren't always honest when they post their information online. There's the playboy who says he's not married, when in fact he is in his second marriage. There's the guy who says he's searching for his soul mate, when he's actually looking for nothing more than a sexual encounter. Then there' the woman who is searching for companionship, but she is still posting an 18 year old photo of herself online.

It seems that real life relationships do not turn everyone on. Instead, more and more people are willing to settle for a relationship through the Internet. Personally, I prefer a relationship of the touching kind to that of a relationship of the "e" kind.

How much of a thrill can you get out of running your fingers through someone's hair virtually? Where is the excitement in giving your date a virtual kiss before saying goodnight? I don't know about you, but my hormones are not stimulated electronically. In fact, I have a difficult time understanding why anyone would spend so much time communicating with someone that they have no intentions of meeting.

People are becoming increasingly afraid of any and everything as we move deeper into the millennium. So I guess elationships are the result of fear. Real life relationships can be challenging especially for those who are less confident in their ability to create one.

Some things about entering into a relationship will never change. Those who pursue a relationship will always have to contend with certain elements of fear. There is the fear of being rejected, the fear of being made a fool of as well as making a fool of yourself. But this is just a part of the cycle of falling in love, and that's the one thing that I would not want to replace with an elationship.
